President O’Brien Announces PSB is Closing
Local Lehigh Valley Schools Accepting Transfer Students from Pennsylvania School of Business
Transfer program necessitated based PSB’s plan to close January '14
ALLENTOWN, PA (Sept. 12, 2013) – Lehigh Carbon Community College, Central Penn College, DeVry Institute, McCann School of Business, Technical Career Institute and Lincoln Technical Institute are opening their doors to students from PSB which will discontinue operations in January 2014.
“This is a managed transition for PSB’s students,” explains Dick Dumaresq, President of Pennsylvania Association of Private School Administrators. “Very little will actually change for them; even some of their teachers will remain the same. Only the school locations will be different."
The transition to other schools is necessitated by PSB being unable -- because of federal governmental spending cuts -- to continue providing educational services. “Congressional funding cuts effective last July prevented 50% of our student population from beginning their studies," notes Michael O’Brien, President of PSB "And with enrollment dropping at that level, we determined it would be impossible for us to remain open beyond this coming January."
All of PSB’s students will have an opportunity to transfer their credits into another college because the local schools are cooperating fully with the state and PSB. While some current students will be able to graduate from PSB in either September 2013 or January 2014, others will be able to transfer seamlessly into the other schools along with select PSB teachers and staff.
“Clearly, this is an unfortunate development for PSB’s students," says Dumaresq. "The good news is that we're confident their transition to the local schools will be smooth and easy.”
